BETTER SCHOOLS FOR OUR CHILDREN

Working with Premier Chris Minns, we're delivering better schools and more teachers to give our kids the world class education they deserve, right where they live.
The Minns Labor Government is building more classrooms, hiring more teachers and lifting student outcomes across NSW.
BETTER SCHOOLS ACROSS THE NORTH WEST
New schools are now open at Tallawong, Nirimba Fields and Box Hill. In Grantham Farm, we’re building a new public school with a co-located public preschool. A new public school is being built in the Gables and new high schools are being built in Tallawong and Box Hill.
We're building almost 600 new permanent classrooms across the North West. And improvements are being made to public schools including Casuarina, Quakers Hill East, Riverbank, Riverstone, Schofields and South Creek. As well as high schools including Quakers Hill, Riverstone, The Ponds and Wyndham College.
MORE TEACHERS FOR OUR CHILDREN
Because of the former Liberal Government's unfair wages cap and neglect of public education, teacher vacancies reached an all time high, resulting in 10,000 merged and cancelled classes across NSW every day.
When the Minns Labor Government was elected, one of our priorities was to rebuild our education system. Just in the last two and a half years, we've:
- Delivered the largest pay rise in a generation to all of NSW's public school teachers;
- Reduced teacher vacancies locally by 71 per cent meaning our kids are spending more time learning in class and receiving more one-on-one attention from their teachers; and
- Nearly halved the number of merged and cancelled classes by getting more teachers into the classroom.
Rebuilding our education system takes time but we are committed to getting the job done.
